You and Your Baby is a Beacon Community Services' Peninsula Early Years program. Learn about prenatal education, newborn care, nutrition, infant and mother health, stages of child development, and more in this free drop-in program. Connect with other parents on the Peninsula. For prenatal families and families with infants up to 12 months. In partnership with Island Health, public health nurses provide information and support, together with the facilitator and guest speakers.
The Young Parent Program supports pregnant teens and young parents in a nurturing community while also providing a safe, stimulating environment for their children. In the on-site licensed infant/toddler centre the staff of experienced Early Childhood Educators provide responsive care for the children along with building respectful, trusting relationships with their families.
Access Midwifery and Family Care is a unique practice of registered midwives that provides primary maternity care to women during all stages of their pregnancy and post-partum support throughout the greater Victoria area. Their midwifery services are covered under the Medical Services Plan, meaning that people with BC Care Cards can access their services free of charge. Regardless, they believe that everyone deserves access to quality maternity care. If you do not have a BC Health Card, they encourage you to contact them for more information about getting care.
Head Start is a drop-in program for parents and their children ages 0 – 4 years old. They offer playgroups, nutritional support and parenting workshops, which all include transportation and childminding as needed.
La Leche League Canada is a registered charity that provides peer support for pregnant women/parents, new moms/parents and beyond. They are parents who have breastfed or chestfed their children and now volunteer to support others to reach their goals. Island Sexual Health offers information on pregnancy, testing, options and decision making. They are are a pro-choice organization that offers non-biased, factual, and comprehensive information equally on all options available in Canada. They believe a pregnant person has the ability and right to make the best decision for themselves when they are given objective, non biased information. About the program The SFRS Prenatal Education and Outreach Services provides local group or individual prenatal education, support, and outreach to pregnant women and their families in Sooke and the surrounding areas. We offer a low to no-cost program for all who need or want prenatal services. This program is a partnership program with the Best Babies program. Located at 766 Wadams Way, Sooke.

Best Babies is funded through the Island Health Authority (IHA) and offers support to pregnant families and their newborns up to 6-8 weeks of age. Participants attend weekly group sessions that cover topics including prenatal education, health, nutrition and infant care. Participants are provided with a nutritious frozen meal to take home. Parents also receive snacks, food vouchers, bus tickets, vitamins, information and other support when needed. Weekly discussions are led by a Public Health Nurse, Dietician, Dental Hygienist or BGC Youth & Family Counsellor.

Victoria Best Babies is a Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program sponsored by Fernwood NRG with funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Post-natal discussion groups run on Wednesdays from 1:00pm-2:00pm. This group is for parents and their babies ages 0 months-1year old. Discussions are led by various members of the staff and the community. The Public Health Nurse, Dietitian, Program Coordinator, and Family Support Worker are available for support.
Pre-natal classes run on Thursdays from 1:00pm-2:00pm. This group is for pregnant people and their older toddlers (if applicable). A free pre- and post-natal program, in cooperation with Victoria Best Babies and Island Health, that aims to optimize nutrition and health in expectant and new parents. Offers one to one support, dietician, public health nurse and dental hygienist services in a safe and confidential setting. Meets weekly on Tuesday.
