The Cridge Young Parent Outreach Program

The Young Parent Outreach program is a dynamic resource providing services and support to young pregnant women, young moms and dads, and their children in the Greater Victoria area. These services are designed to give young pregnant women and young moms and dads the help and support network they need to have healthy babies and to be effective, successful parents. Through the unique and caring approach of our outreach worker, clients are given guidance, encouraged to set goals and counselled on healthy and safe choices in order to achieve a fulfilling life.

Access Midwifery & Family Care

Access Midwifery and Family Care is a unique practice of registered midwives that provides primary maternity care to women during all stages of their pregnancy and post-partum support throughout the greater Victoria area. Our midwifery services are covered under the Medical Services Plan, meaning that people with BC Care Cards can access our services free of charge. Regardless, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality maternity care. Tseycum First Nation HeadStart Program

Tseycum HeadStart Program is a program that supports activities focused on early childhood learning and development for First Nations children from birth to age six and their families. This includes pre and post natal support, cultural development programs, parenting and education programs and workshops, infant and toddler development programs, health screening, monitoring and referrals, fitness and nutrition, exercise, yoga for kids, Afterschool and Breakfast programs and literacy support.

Aboriginal Early Childhood Development and Slaheena Prenatal Support Program

Early Childhood Development staff provides family support in such areas as parenting and life skills. We also support parents and families going through family reunification. The program is open to all Aboriginal (First Nations, Metis and Inuit) families, and runs Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 1 pm (lunch is served at 12 pm daily). Activities may include regalia making, fitness, playgroups, health talks, crafts, and parent support groups.

Y Young Moms Program

The Y Young Moms Program offers 8 transitional housing units for pregnant or young moms age 16-29 who are parenting a child under 5 years of age. Families receive weekly support, individual counselling and advocacy to help families achieve independence. Trained staff offer positive parenting education; life skills education; group counselling and support; mental health support; pre-employment and employment counselling and referrals.

La Leche League (West Shore)

La Leche League Canada offers free mother-to-mother breastfeeding and chestfeeding information and support. Leaders are available to help by phone, email, text, or home- or hospital visits. There are also monthly meetings for mothers and moms-to-be, partners and children to meet and share their successes and challenges.  Visit the website link to find the very active Facebook group, where meetings are announced, links are shared, and questions are asked and answered. La Leche League (Esquimalt)

Pregnancy Support and Information

Island Sexual Health offers information on pregnancy, testing, options and decision making. They are are a pro-choice organization that offers non-biased, factual, and comprehensive information equally on all options available in Canada. They believe a pregnant person has the ability and right to make the best decision for themselves when they are given objective, non biased information. You can make an appointment for more information and support. The Victoria Clinic is located at #101-3960 Quadra Street

Peninsula Early Years Centre

We offer a variety of educational and parenting support opportunities. At the Peninsula Early Years Centre, you can connect with programs in support of children's health & development or with our Outreach Workers for questions about ages and stages you might have. We also have our Child Passenger Safety programs in support of safe travels while in a vehicle and the Play & Chat Packs program in support of language development. Located at 1649 Mt. Public Health Units provide services to the communities and individuals they serve, with a goal to increase health and wellness. Access immunizations, prenatal support, postpartum programs, etc. Location: 2170 Mt Newton Cross Rd. Saanichton BC.

Prenatal Education and Outreach

The SFRS Prenatal Education and Outreach Services provides local group or individual prenatal education, support, and outreach to pregnant women and their families in Sooke and the surrounding areas. We offer a low to no-cost program for all who need or want prenatal services. This program is a partnership program with the Best Babies program. Located at 766 Wadams Way, Sooke

Island Health Prenatal Services

Prenatal Registration through Island Health allows you to access a range of prenatal services. Identify topics important to you during your pregnancy such as nutrition, lifestyle factors, community support and your hopes for your pregnancy and birth. You may want information about getting ready for your baby’s arrival including what to expect when feeding and caring for your new baby. Services are delivered through your local health unit.

Best Babies (Colwood)

Best Babies is a free program for pregnant women needing extra support due to family violence, poverty, addictions, food insecurity, isolation and/or health issues, including emotional and cognitive difficulties. Women can remain in the group from pregnancy until their baby is 8 weeks of age. The Best Babies services are offered through a team of professionals including a VIHA Public Health Nurse, VIHA Dietitian, dental hygienist and the Program Support and Outreach Worker. Located at 345 Wale Road, Colwood.

Pregnancy Happy Hour

You don’t have to be showing to show up! Chat with other pregnant people in a friendly and comfortable setting. The discussion will be facilitated by an experienced childbirth educator. Baby Group

Best Babies (Tillicum/Saanich)

Prenatal nutrition program. Provides resources for pregnant and parenting mothers, up to 6 months after delivery. Vitamins, food vouchers, childminding, and lunch available. Please call to register. Located at Saanich Neighbourhood Place, 3100 Tillicum Rd. Victoria (inside Pearkes Rec. Centre, behind Tillicum Mall)

Best Babies (Fernwood)

Free pre- and post- natal groups for pregnant people or new parents. Educational sessions, one-on-one support, food vouchers, produce, prenatal vitamis & supplements, baby food demos, healthy snacks and lunch, hospital tours and hospital pre-registration, onsite access to a Public Health Nurse, a Dietitian, and a Dental Hygienist. Call to register. Located at Fernwood Community Centre, 1240 Gladstone Ave. 

Best Babies (Quadra Village)

A pre- and post-natal program, in cooperation with Victoria Best Babies and Island Health that aims to optimize nutrition and health in expectant new parents and families. Weekly meetings, one to one support plus dietitian, public health nurse and dental hygienist services. Registration required, call Helen at number below. Located at Quadra Village Community Centre, 901 Kings Rd. Victoria.
