You and Your Baby

Your and Your Baby is a free program for parents and their babies. Each drop-in session gives parents the opportunity to meet other families in a warm and welcoming space, with a variety of guest speakers presenting from the community. Join us to discuss specific topics surrounding the health and well-being of families with infants up to 12 months.

You and Your Baby

You and Your Baby is a Beacon Community Services' Peninsula Early Years program. Learn about prenatal education, newborn care, nutrition, infant and mother health, stages of child development, and more in this free drop-in program. Connect with other parents on the Peninsula. For prenatal families and families with infants up to 12 months. In partnership with Island Health, public health nurses provide information and support, together with the facilitator and guest speakers.

Artemis Young Parent Program

Artemis Young Parent Program has an on-site infant/toddler centre for young parents who attend Artemis Secondary School. The program supports pregnant teens and young parents under age 20 in a nurturing community while also providing a safe, stimulating environment for their children. The staff of experienced Early Childhood Educators provide responsive care for the children along with building respectful, trusting relationships with their families. There are rich and varied experiences to support all aspects of children's well-being while nurturing their cultural and familial traditions. The team of ECE’s, Counselors and a Public Health Nurse offers pre-natal and parenting education, individual and group counselling, support and advocacy.  Parents are also given the opportunity to connect with other students to share the joys and challenges of parenthood.

Access Midwifery & Family Care

Access Midwifery and Family Care is a unique practice of registered midwives that provides primary maternity care to women during all stages of their pregnancy and post-partum support throughout the greater Victoria area. Our midwifery services are covered under the Medical Services Plan, meaning that people with BC Care Cards can access our services free of charge. Regardless, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality maternity care. Tseycum First Nation HeadStart Program

About the program Tseycum HeadStart Program is a program that supports activities focused on early childhood learning and development for First Nations children from birth to age six and their families. This includes pre and post natal support, cultural development programs, parenting and education programs and workshops, infant and toddler development programs, health screening, monitoring and referrals, fitness and nutrition, exercise, yoga for kids, Afterschool and Breakfast programs and literacy support.

Aboriginal Early Childhood Development and Slaheena Prenatal Support Program

COVID-19 Update: Please see website for most up to date information. About the program Early Childhood Development staff provides family support in such areas as parenting and life skills. We also support parents and families going through family reunification. The program is open to all Aboriginal (First Nations, Metis and Inuit) families, and runs Monday-Thursday from 9am-1pm (lunch is served at 12 pm daily). Activities may include regalia making, fitness, playgroups, health talks, crafts, and parent support groups. Call ahead to register.

Y Young Moms Program

The Y Young Moms Program offers 8 transitional housing units for pregnant or young moms age 16-29 who are parenting a child under 5 years of age. Families receive weekly support, individual counselling and advocacy to help families achieve independence. Trained staff offer positive parenting education; life skills education; group counselling and support; mental health support; pre-employment and employment counselling and referrals.

Pregnancy Support and Information

Island Sexual Health offers information on pregnancy, testing, options and decision making. They are are a pro-choice organization that offers non-biased, factual, and comprehensive information equally on all options available in Canada. They believe a pregnant person has the ability and right to make the best decision for themselves when they are given objective, non biased information. You can make an appointment for more information and support. The Victoria Clinic is located at #101-3960 Quadra Street

Peninsula Early Years Centre

At the Peninsula Early Years Centre, Beacon Community Services offers a welcoming, nurturing space for families and caregivers with children ages 6 and under. Prenatal Education and Outreach

About the program The SFRS Prenatal Education and Outreach Services provides local group or individual prenatal education, support, and outreach to pregnant women and their families in Sooke and the surrounding areas. Identify topics important to you during your pregnancy such as nutrition, lifestyle factors, community support and your hopes for your pregnancy and birth. You may want information about getting ready for your baby’s arrival including what to expect when feeding and caring for your new baby. Services are delivered through your local health unit.

Best Babies (Colwood)

About the program Best Babies is a free program for pregnant women needing extra support due to family violence, poverty, addictions, food insecurity, isolation and/or health issues, including emotional and cognitive difficulties. Women can remain in the group from pregnancy until their baby is 8 weeks of age. The Best Babies services are offered through a team of professionals including a VIHA Public Health Nurse, VIHA Dietitian, dental hygienist and the Program Support and Outreach Worker. Best Babies (Fernwood)

Victoria Best Babies is continuing to provide services through the COVID-19 pandemic. We serve pregnant and parenting parents of children ages 0-1 year. If you are a parent in need, please call or text Laura for more information at 250-216-1938.

Victoria Best Babies is a Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program sponsored by Fernwood NRG with funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Post-natal discussion groups run on Wednesdays from 1:00pm-2:00pm. This group is for parents and their babies ages 0 months-1year old. Discussions are led by various members of the staff and the community. Our Public Health Nurse, Dietitian, Program Coordinator, and Family Support Worker are available for support.
