Community Centre & Neighbourhood Houses

Fairfield Gonzales Community Association is a City of Victoria recognized neighbourhood that works to create a connected, collaborative, inclusive, welcoming, and sustainable community. Offering varied child care services, programming for youth, recreation and food security, hosts community events, provides and promotes community planning and family drop-in programs. Location: 1330 Fairfield Road. Office hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. 

Youth Programming

The Fairfield Gonzales Community Association hosts both registered and drop-in based Youth Programming for youth grades 5-8. Registered programming takes place from Monday to Wednesday and includes Pro-D Care. Youth in attendance arrive from nearby schools and are able to access resources available at the Community Centre. Youth in Grades 5-7 are able to access drop-in programming on Thursdays and Fridays from 2:30-5:30pm. Further, Youth who attend middle school are able to attend drop-in programming on Friday evenings from 6-9:30pm. All drop-in programs are available by donation. Recreation Programming

The Fairfield Gonzales Community Association offers child friendly recreation programming. Registration is required for attendance and fees vary. Check out our website for more information: Early ChildhoodSchool Age.

FGCA Family Talk – Laugh, Learn & Lunch

Mondays- 1335 Thurlow Road (Garry Oak , 10:30-12:30pm

An opportunity for parent and children to explore and play together, to meet other families and caregivers, and learn about the community resources. FGCA experienced childminding staff are available to support in the exploration of the challenges and joys of parenting young children over lunch. Programming includes a shared snack & lunch and group discussion. There is limited onsite childminding available and parents and guardians are required to be present on site. By donation.

FGCA Parent & Tot Play group (drop-in)

Tuesdays- 1330 Fairfield Road, 10:00am – 11:30am. Thursdays- 1335 Thurlow Road, 9:30-11:00am. 

The Fairfield Gonzales Community Association offers drop-in parent & tot programming. Come and join us for some indoor play time! This is an opportunity for young children and their caregivers to meet and play in an informal atmosphere.  There will be limited supplies offered to maintain the health and safety of all participants. By donation. 

Food Security

Fairfield-Gonzales Twice Monthly Community Dinners

The FGCA is excited to announce the return of our community dinner program! Come by the community centre to pick up a tasty meal to go to enjoy at home. There is no need to pre-register, meals will be available while supplies last on a first come, first served basis. Second and last Friday of the month (excluding December) from 4-5:30 pm, meals available for take out while supplies last. Cost by donation, suggested $5 for an individual or $10 for a family at Fairfield Community Place, 1330 Fairfield Road.

Community Freezer

Offers a selection of frozen foods available for community members to take what they need. Inside the foyer of Fairfield Community Place, open Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 5 pm.

Neighbourhood Pantry

Offers a selection of non-perishable foods and hygiene items. Outside of the main entrance of Fairfield Community Place. Anyone is welcome to take and/or donate.

Thursday Market Shop

Provides a selection of rescued foods including fruits and vegetables, frozen food, dairy, and non-perishables. Food is available starting at 5 pm while supplies last. Please bring your own reusable shopping bags.

Tuesday Pantry Shop

Provides a selection of rescued foods including fruits and vegetables, frozen food, dairy, and non-perishables. This program is available by registration only, please call 250-382-4604 or email event@fairfieldcommunity.ca.

Monthly Clothing Swap

Do you need some new duds? Come shop for free on the first Saturday of the month! Donated clothing is sorted by our volunteers and includes clothes for all ages and styles! It’s free for anyone to participate – come and fill up a bag to take home. First Saturday of the month from 10 am to 1 pm at Fairfield Community Place, 1330 Fairfield Road. 

Child Care

FGCA Early Years programs includes three licensed child care programs for the children between ages 10 months to 5 years old. Our Early Years programs are child-led, play-based and outdoor-focused in nature. The FCGA believes that children have a desire to grow, play and learn, as well as to explore and construct knowledge about the world around them through peer and play based experiences. All our programs follow the Early Learning Framework and participate in the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative. The three licensed child care programs are:  Huckleberry Infant-Toddler Centre for ages Ages: 10 – 36 months; Camas Early Years center – Ages: 3 – 5 years; Moss Rock Preschool – Ages: 3 –5.
